Albania solar projects gain approval for new developments
Albania has taken a significant step forward in diversifying its energy mix by approving two new solar projects. The Albanian Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has granted approval for two ground-mounted solar farms with a combined capacity of 54 MW. These projects, to be developed by the local company Energji Ashta, will be strategically located in the northern part of the country.
The larger of the two solar farms, boasting a capacity of 42 MW, will rise in the village of Ashta, near the city of Shkodra. The second project, a 12 MW solar farm, will find its home in the nearby village of Belaj. Both projects are designed to inject clean and renewable energy into the local grid, reducing Albania’s heavy reliance on hydropower.
