Aspen Power, a prominent distributed generation platform focused on developing a clean energy future has finalized six solar projects in Pennsylvania with a combined generation capacity of 25.5MW DC.
Aspen Power Completes First Phase of Solar Expansion
Aspen Power has completed six solar projects in Pennsylvania, marking the first phase of a larger portfolio acquired from Sunrise Energy. The two companies collaborated on developing these projects. With this, Aspen Power's total solar capacity in the state exceeds 145 MW. The projects are anticipated to generate up to 37 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in their first year of operation – enough electricity for 5,100 homes annually.
“We’re proud to advance decarbonization together with the team at Sunrise, who have been committed partners in bringing these projects to life. Being able to commission projects in the Keystone State is a key element of supporting a sustainable future for all and achieving our goal of gigawatt-scale in the coming years,” said Dan Gulick, Senior Vice President, Community Solar, Aspen Power.
Solar Projects Boost Pennsylvania's Renewable Energy Goals
Pennsylvania aims to generate 18% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025. These commercial net metering solar projects will contribute to that goal and enable residents, businesses and organizations to engage in the renewable energy transition.
The six sites are expected to create approximately 480 jobs in the state through the development, construction and maintenance of the solar systems and will utilize American-made components.
