Community-Led Solar Panel Initiative Attracts Over 3,900 Households

The solar panel initiative in Cheshire and Warrington — through the Solar Together scheme — offers residents significant savings of up to £2,832 on solar installations. This community-led program aims to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy bills, and increase renewable energy production.

Significant Savings on Solar Panel Installations

A solar panel initiative is making waves in Cheshire and Warrington. Over 3,900 households have expressed interest in the Solar Together scheme — a community-led program designed to make solar energy more affordable. This initiative offers average savings of 38 percent on solar photovoltaic (PV) panel installations, making it a compelling option for homeowners.

The goal is clear: reduce carbon emissions, lower energy bills, and increase renewable energy production. The scheme achieves this by using collective buying power, ensuring residents receive high-quality installations from approved installers at the best price.

One of the main benefits of the Solar Together initiative is the significant cost savings. On average, homeowners in Cheshire and Warrington can save up to £2,832 per solar installation. This amount is not only a financial incentive but also a major step towards sustainability for many local residents.

The initiative also extends beyond just solar panels, offering battery storage and electric vehicle chargers to provide a complete renewable energy solution for homes. For households that have already installed solar panels, the scheme provides an opportunity to retrofit battery storage. This allows homeowners to store more renewable energy and rely less on the national grid.

Councils Collaborate with iChoosr to Ensure Success

Local councils in Cheshire and Warrington have partnered with iChoosr, a company with expertise in accelerating the sustainable energy transition. The collaboration aims to ensure that the switch to solar energy is both cost-effective and hassle-free.

The process for participating in the initiative is simple and straightforward. Interested residents can register online by November 15. Once registered, they become part of a larger group of homeowners who are also interested in solar energy. This group participation enables competitive pricing through a reverse auction.

Approved UK solar PV suppliers then compete in this auction, offering their best prices due to the volume and geographic concentration of installations. After the auction, each household receives a personalized recommendation based on the information they provided during registration.

If a household accepts the recommendation, a technical survey confirms the installation details, and a date is scheduled for the solar PV system to be installed. Comprehensive support is provided throughout the process, with help available via phone, email, and information sessions, thus ensuring households make a well-informed decision with ease.

Solar Panel Initiative: A Trusted Solution for Solar Energy

Marie-Louise Abretti, the business manager for Solar Together UK, highlighted the importance of the initiative during these times of fluctuating energy prices. “With energy prices continuing to fluctuate, Cheshire and Warrington residents are seeking ways to lower their carbon footprint, cut energy costs, and become more independent from the grid,” she said.

She added that the Solar Together scheme offers a straightforward way for homeowners to make an informed decision and secure a competitive deal from trusted providers. On average, residents save £2,832 compared to typical market prices for solar PV systems with 4-25 panels. This makes solar energy more accessible to a larger number of households.

The Solar Together initiative has received positive feedback from local officials. Councillor Hitesh Patel, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for climate change, sustainability, and the environment, urged residents to consider registering for the scheme. “If you’re considering solar panels or battery storage for your home, there’s still time to register for this year’s Solar Together scheme,” he said.

The Solar Together initiative shows how collective action can create positive change. Homeowners in Cheshire and Warrington can save money, reduce their carbon footprint, and become less reliant on the grid. With the registration deadline on November 15, residents should consider if solar energy is right for their home.
