Jordan solar project tender launched for 200 MW capacity
Jordan has embarked on an ambitious renewable energy initiative by launching a tender for a 200 MW solar project. This move is part of the country’s broader strategy to enhance its renewable energy capacity and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The project, to be developed on a build-own-operate basis, is open for proposals from developers until mid-December, with the government keen on fostering long-term private sector involvement in its energy landscape.

The Jordanian government has taken a significant step towards its renewable energy goals by calling for proposals for a 200 MW solar project. Developers are required to submit their proposals by December 15, which marks a crucial phase in expanding the country’s clean energy infrastructure. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) will oversee a two-stage bidding process. Initially, interested parties must pass a pre-qualification round by the December 15 deadline, after which successful bidders will be invited to submit their final proposals. A non-refundable fee of JOD 3,000 (approximately USD 4,240) is required to participate.
The selected developer will be tasked with financing, designing, constructing, and operating the photovoltaic (PV) plant. The electricity generated will be sold to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) through a power purchase agreement (PPA).
