Sungrow Poland manufacturing: Unique 2024 plant opening

Sungrow to Open PV Inverter

In a significant move to strengthen its European presence and enhance supply chain resilience, leading global inverter and energy storage system supplier Sungrow has announced plans to establish its first European manufacturing facility. The new plant, located in Wałbrzych, Lower Silesia, Poland, will be dedicated to producing both photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems (ESS).

A Strategic Investment in Sungrow Poland manufacturing

The state-of-the-art facility represents a substantial €230 million investment and is a clear indicator of Sungrow’s commitment to the European market. Spanning 65,400 square meters, the plant is poised to become a central hub for the company’s regional operations. This strategic expansion is designed to meet the continent’s growing demand for renewable energy solutions and local sourcing amid evolving policies.

Operations are scheduled to commence within the next 12 months, creating approximately 400 local jobs. Sungrow aims to leverage the region’s deep-rooted expertise in electronics, automation, and advanced manufacturing.

“Lower Silesia’s history of skilled technical expertise… made it the prime location for our new factory,” stated Shawn Shi, President of Sungrow Europe. “We intend to hire locally to tap into this expertise.”

Boosting Capacity to Meet Local Demand with Sungrow Poland manufacturing

The Polish factory is set to deliver impressive production volumes, with a planned annual capacity of up to 20 GW for PV inverters and 12.5 GWh for energy storage systems. This large-scale output will significantly reduce delivery times and logistics costs for European customers, providing a more responsive and efficient supply chain.

By manufacturing locally, Sungrow directly addresses the increasing calls for supply chain security and counters potential cybersecurity concerns associated with non-EU imports. The facility will integrate advanced manufacturing processes to ensure all products meet the rigorous European standards for performance, reliability, safety, and grid compliance.

This new plant will boost Sungrow’s total global inverter manufacturing capacity to 350 GW, complementing its existing production hubs in China, India, and Thailand. The move marks a pivotal step in Sungrow’s global expansion, solidifying its position as a key player in Europe’s transition to clean energy.
