PowerChina and DEWA Join Forces to Advance Sustainable Energy in UAE

An important meeting was led by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and a high delegation of Sustainable energy experts from PowerChina to leverage the UAE's sustainable energy projects.

Advance Sustainable Energy discussions

The purpose of the closed-door meeting was a good chance for both parties to discuss and brainstorm the common ideas as well as facilitate joint projects, whether we're talking about renewable energy, smart grid solutions for water, or water infrastructure improvement, and research and development initiatives in the field.

In this regard, a press release issued by (DEWA), said that both sides have reached "a mutually understood strategic cooperation, opening the door for the delivery of joint projects in the field of sustainable energy". This is in accordance with the strategy of Dubai to get the rank of the leading global sustainable energy production provider.

The delegates from PowerChina consisted of Bing Jiang, the Vice President of PowerChina group and Head of PowerChina in the Middle East and North Africa, Jiao Fei, the Vice President of the company in the MEA region, Chen Yunbing, the Vice President of SEPCOIII, a PowerChina subsidiary engaged with power construction, and Hong Li, the registered representative in PowerChina of the United Arab Emirates.

Aiming for Sustainable Energy and Innovation

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has emphasized that sustainability and innovation are the vessels within which the organization’s vision is realized.

DEWA’s current plans closely align with Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which sets a pathway to decarbonize the economy and reach Carbon Neutrality by 2050, aiming to decrease the use of non-renewable and non-clean energy sources. Without a doubt, DEWA is one hundred percent devoted to realizing this goal.

Because of this, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority opted for the replacement of fossil fuel projects in electricity generation. In addition, under the initiative of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is based in the Dubai locality, it has been the first and most significant large-scale R&D center in the field of solar energy in the United Arab Emirates.

It directs the reduction of the production costs and increasing the efficiency of the solar power station, which in turn allows the station to reach the production capacity increased by more than 20 MW. The implementation of this solar park is the first of its kind at the global level when it comes to the centralization of solar energy.

This registers an important fact for society that by the end of 2030, the production of solar energy from this facility will reach a staggering 5000 MW, with the help of a gross investment accounting for fifty billion dirhams. This shows how committed they are to the agenda of the use of clean energy and sustainability.

PowerChina and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) are operating in a joint infrastructure project nurturing clean water and the associated infrastructure.

Emphasizing the disclosure of their plans and the increase of collaborative projects and the mutual sharing of technical expertise in the water and energy sectors are to be done as described before. In shaping every project and exchanging everyone’s expertise, the latter being symbolic, let’s hope for the best outcome.

Dubai’s Leap Towards Solar Energy: Embracing Photovoltaic Systems

Dubai instantly conceived the realization of PV solar energy plants, which undoubtedly signifies noteworthy progress together with the proliferation of clean and renewable energy.

This fact is supported by the announcement of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that Dubai will be at the forefront of a new policy that would see a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

The strategy seeks to do a lot. In 2020, they aimed to obtain only 7% clean energy, but the plans will increase this figure to 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050.

Shams Dubai, among the initiatives, a project has been aimed at cities to introduce solar energy by installing 134 megawatts on buildings which could change the practices of using solar energy. If that is what they want, they are close to touching the sky.

This move also marks a development from fossil fuels to solar energy resulting in less air pollution and is a primary component of Dubai’s solar energy vision towards making sustainable opportunities that will be created.

Investments in Middle East and North Africa Region

PowerChina, a leading green company in the world and specializing in the green energy sector, which ultimately leads to clean energy and pure water, has achieved notable success in the Middle East and North Africa region.

One of the clearest examples of the company’s competitive advantage is the field of solar energy, where it has installed some of the smallest and largest projects on a large scale and is now in many other regions in the Middle East.

In fact, these new and renewable energy stations start a shift in the energy system and are built on the scale of the project itself. Since 5000 megawatts will be pumped in the form of renewable energy over the next five years, this is a very large number. PowerChina has agreed to a very large deal with its partners in the Middle East worth about $1.5 billion over the next ten years.

In brief, PowerChina and DEWA’s strategic tie-up constitutes an important step in the dimensioning of sustainable development. The two undertakings, namely, Renewable Energy and Fresh water infrastructure are quite impressively molding the energy character of UAE and have a global impact too.

What PowerChina’s financial gesture in the Middle East manifests in the balance is Dubai’s aim for renewable energy to become the locomotive of the region via initiatives that are brought to life through collaborations. The role of these collaborations is very great in establishing prosperous and sustainable global conditions.
