India's investments in solar manufacturing are fueling export growth, with data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and JMK Research indicating a surge in annual domestic module exports from 3% to 29% between the 2022 and 2024 financial years.
In the 2024 financial year, module exports alone generated approximately US$2 billion, reflecting the solar sector's focus on maximizing domestic production.
Waaree Energies Expands with Global Manufacturing Projects
Waaree Energies operates 13.3 GW of PV module manufacturing capacity, including 1.3 GW from Indosolar and 5.4 GW of PV cell capacity in Gujarat. The company is also constructing a 6 GW wafer-to-module hub in Odisha. Expanding internationally, Waaree plans to establish a 1.6 GW solar module facility in Houston, Texas, with plans to increase this to 3 GW by fiscal 2026 and 5 GW by fiscal 2027.
