Origis Energy, a U.S. renewable energy provider, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for a 200-MW solar project paired with a 200-MW/800-MWh energy storage system in Mississippi.
Origis and TVA Launch Major Solar and Storage Project in Mississippi
Under the agreement, Origis Energy will develop, build, and operate the Hope Solar + Storage facility in Clay County. The project will feature 200 MWac of solar power and 200 MW (800 MWh) of battery energy storage, significantly enhancing TVA’s clean energy capabilities in the state.

Power generated by the facility will be sold to TVA to support the region’s rapid population and economic growth. The Hope facility is expected to begin commercial operations by the end of 2028, pending the necessary environmental and developmental permits.
“TVA is a clean energy leader, and we take our mission of Environmental Stewardship seriously to increase the amount of affordable, reliable, renewable energy in our portfolio. This project is an example of American-led energy innovation that creates avenues of opportunity, providing economic benefits to communities and our customers while enhancing our nation’s energy security,” said Jeremy Fisher, senior VP, strategy and commercial officer for TVA Commercial Energy Solutions.
TVA Highlights Economic Boost from Origis Clean Energy Project
According to TVA, the region’s population is growing three times faster than the national average, and its GDP increased by 3% in 2023, compared to the national rate of 2.5%. This project is expected to support job creation and retention in the area.
The development is estimated to bring $182 million in immediate economic gains through construction and hiring, with another $7.2 million in projected long-term benefits for the region over the facility’s lifespan.
“This partnership connects us to those we serve and is good news for multiple stakeholders. Industrial customers benefit by meeting their decarbonization goals. Residential customers benefit from clean energy that contributes to reliable, affordable, predictable rates. Communities near these projects benefit through the economic activity of construction and job growth from industries these projects attract,” said Johan Vanhee, chief commercial and procurement officer for Origis Energy.
Origis Energy & TVA Expand Mississippi Renewable Energy Portfolio
This new facility joins a growing portfolio of Origis and TVA renewable energy projects in Mississippi. One such project, Golden Triangle II, became operational earlier this year in Lowndes County with 150 MWac of solar power and 50 MW of battery storage.
Two others are currently under construction: Golden Triangle I, a 200 MWac solar project with 50 MW of storage in Lowndes County, is set to begin operations in 2025; and the Optimist project, a 200 MWac solar facility with 50 MW of storage in neighboring Clay County, is expected to be operational by early 2026.
Origis Energy, a leading U.S. provider of renewable energy and decarbonization solutions, is overseeing the development, construction, and operation of these projects for TVA. Under the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Origis, each site will supply clean energy at competitive rates. TVA will use this power to meet rising demand, enhance grid reliability, and support the sustainability goals of major industrial customers through its Green Invest program.
