Bahrain Youth Center First in MENA to Earn LEED Gold
Setting a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure in the Middle East and North Africa, the INJAZ Bahrain headquarters has secured the prestigious LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. This landmark accomplishment distinguishes the facility as the first youth center in the entire MENA region to receive such an honor, underscoring a profound commitment to green building principles.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the premier global standard for recognizing excellence in sustainable architecture. Achieving the Gold level certifies that the INJAZ Bahrain center demonstrates superior performance across critical environmental metrics, marking a major step forward in Bahrain’s pursuit of a sustainable future.
A Blueprint for Sustainable Design
The certification is the culmination of a strategic design focused on minimizing environmental impact. The building’s high-performance features were pivotal in meeting the stringent LEED Gold criteria. A comprehensive approach to resource management includes high-quality insulation to ensure optimal energy consumption for temperature control, significantly reducing the load on heating and cooling systems. Furthermore, advanced lighting systems are deployed throughout the facility to lower electricity usage, while intelligent water systems are integrated to maximize conservation and prevent waste. These combined efforts substantially decrease the center’s carbon footprint.

The organization intends to use the state-of-the-art facility as a living classroom to inspire a new generation. It serves as a tangible example of sustainability in action, providing a unique platform for teaching young people about resource efficiency, renewable energy, and environmental stewardship.
