Cameroon Renewable Energy Exemption Overview
Cameroon has enacted a 12-month exemption from customs duties and taxes on a specific list of equipment used for renewable energy and potable water production. This initiative, detailed in Circular No. 00000201/MINFI/DGD, was signed by Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze on 12 February 2026.
Eligible Equipment for Cameroon Renewable Energy Exemption

- Photovoltaic panels
- Deep-cycle batteries
- Solar cables
- Pumps
- Inverters
- Hydroelectric turbines up to 1,000 kW
- Control and regulation instruments
- Biogas purification systems

Conditions for Importers under Cameroon Renewable Energy Exemption
Importers taking advantage of this exemption are required to reflect the tax benefits in the selling prices for end users. Non-compliance may result in penalties under the CEMAC Customs Code. Additionally, should the exempted goods be re-exported, the previously exempted duties must be paid before re-exportation.
