400 Rooftop Solar Panels Installed at East Yorkshire Football Ground

Bridlington Town AFC has completed a landmark renewable energy project, fitting 400 solar panels to the roof of its 2,800-capacity Mounting Systems Stadium. The newly commissioned 180kW system represents the first phase of an ambitious green initiative, designed to generate clean electricity for the club’s operations and export surplus power back to the national grid.

Financial Goals and Fan Benefits from 400 Rooftop Solar Panels Installed at East Yorkshire Football Ground

The transition to solar power is set to yield significant financial returns for the East Yorkshire football club, with projected annual savings reaching up to £42,000. This economic relief from rising energy costs will be strategically reinvested into the club’s future. Club leadership has outlined plans to strengthen the team’s playing budget, launch new community-focused programs, and potentially lower ticket prices to make matches more accessible for its dedicated fanbase. This rooftop solar installation is positioned as a cornerstone of the club’s long-term financial stability and community engagement strategy.

New Ownership Drives Sustainable Vision

The project was spearheaded by the club’s new owner, HDM Worldwide Ltd, and executed by Pure Renewables, a Duracell Energy Platinum Partner. Dan Rogers, chief executive of HDM Worldwide Ltd, emphasized the new leadership’s commitment to a sustainable future. “We are committed to ensuring that cost does not become a barrier for local fans to attend matches,” Rogers stated. He highlighted that despite their recent acquisition of the club, they are rapidly advancing their vision for a robust football environment that benefits the team and the broader community, including plans for a women’s team and collaborations with local schools.

Strategic Partnership with Duracell Energy

Further cementing its green credentials, Bridlington Town AFC has secured a major sponsorship deal with Duracell Energy. This partnership extends beyond kit sponsorship to include the installation of new on-site EV chargers, promoting sustainable transport for players and supporters. Rogers remarked on the significance of a non-league club partnering with a major solar and battery technology firm, noting that it underscores the club’s ambition to be a leader in sustainability both on and off the pitch.
