Adapture Renewables Launches 67 MW Solar Project in Texas

Adapture Renewables has successfully brought its 67 MW Signal Ranch Solar Project in Hunt County, Texas, to commercial operation. The new facility is set to address the state’s rising electricity demand, which is increasingly driven by data centers, artificial intelligence, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Adapture Renewables Launches 67 MW Solar Project in Texas: Powering Growth

Engineered to generate approximately 120 GWh of clean electricity annually, the Signal Ranch project utilizes over 130,000 solar modules, including a significant deployment of high-performance bifacial panels from ZNShine Solar. This advanced technology is designed to increase energy yield by 15-25% over its lifespan. The total output is sufficient to power around 12,500 Texas homes. The energy generated will be sold to a Fortune 50 company through a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) to help meet its corporate sustainability targets.

Ahead of Schedule Despite Challenges

Marking a significant achievement for the company, the project was completed and commissioned in November 2024, three months ahead of its original schedule. This success was realized despite navigating major external pressures, including supply chain disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic and the severe impact of Winter Storm Uri in 2021. The project was co-developed by Adapture Renewables and Belltown, with SOLV Energy managing the EPC services.

“We are proud to see our latest Texas project reach this significant milestone,” said Thomas Houghton, CEO at Adapture Renewables. “Completing the project ahead of schedule reflects the hard work of our team and partners, and highlights our commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure across the country.”

Local Impact and Future Outlook

The construction phase of the Signal Ranch project provided a significant boost to the local economy by creating over 150 jobs. According to an NREL model, the facility is projected to generate over $77 million in economic benefits for Hunt County and the surrounding region. As a portfolio company of KIRKBI, the investment firm behind the LEGO brand, Adapture Renewables is well-positioned to continue developing, financing, and operating utility-scale solar and energy storage projects that enhance grid reliability and support the national transition to a cleaner energy future.
