Latvia solar capacity exceeds 1.5 GW
Latvia’s solar capacity has surpassed 1.5 GW in 2026, reaching 1,521 MW according to figures shared by the Latvian Renewable Energy Alliance. This figure indicates that approximately 601 MW of solar has been added so far in 2026, making it the country’s strongest calendar year for solar deployment to date.
Record growth in Latvia solar capacity installations
By the end of 2025, Latvia had around 920 MW of solar installed. The installations in 2026 have already exceeded the previous annual record of 319 MW set in 2024. This rapid growth has been driven by both utility-scale projects and distributed solar installations, which include new solar parks connected to the transmission grid as well as increased capacity on the distribution network.
The recent surge in capacity reflects a growing commitment to renewable energy adoption in Latvia, aligning with broader trends observed in the Baltic region and across Europe.
