Renewable Energy Agriculture: Turkey Allocates 2.8 Billion Lira

Government Support Initiatives for Renewable Energy Agriculture

Turkey is expanding support for renewable energy in agriculture, with the Agriculture and Forestry Minister Vahit KiriÅŸci announcing that about 2.8 billion lira has already been allocated for renewable energy projects in the sector. This funding has been facilitated through the Agricultural and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK) and the General Directorate of Agricultural Reform.

Solar Energy Implementations in Renewable Energy Agriculture

The financial support is primarily being used to install solar energy systems in farms and agricultural facilities, which is expected to significantly reduce operating costs. One instance of this initiative is a seedling production facility located in Mersin’s Tarsus district, where a solar power plant, financed with TKDK grant support, now covers more than half of the facility’s energy costs.

Broader Goals for Renewable Energy Agriculture

As part of Turkey’s broader renewable energy strategy, the government aims to enhance its renewable energy capacity, with specific emphasis on integration into various sectors, including agriculture. This is aligned with Turkey’s goals to adapt to sustainable energy sources and tackle current energy challenges.

Future Outlook on Renewable Energy Agriculture

The Turkish government continues to seek new projects and partnerships to advance its renewable energy agenda across various domains, particularly emphasizing the importance of solar energy in enhancing agricultural efficiency.
