Rudine Solar Project Secures Grid Connection: 9.9 MW Breakthrough

In a significant step forward for Croatia’s renewable energy sector, Qair Croatia has obtained crucial grid connection approval for its Rudine solar project. The Croatian Transmission System Operator (HOPS) has given the green light for the 9.9 MWp photovoltaic plant, a key development for the facility planned for the municipality of Ĺ˝upa DubrovaÄŤka, approximately 15 km from the historic city of Dubrovnik.

This approval marks a pivotal moment for the Rudine project, which became Qair Croatia’s inaugural solar acquisition in the country in 2022. The development strengthens the company’s diverse energy portfolio in the nation, building on its established presence in wind power. Qair recently commissioned the 36 MW Jelinak wind farm in Split-Dalmatia County and is currently constructing the 39.6 MW Krtolin wind farm, which is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2025.

Expanding a Multi-Technology Portfolio After Rudine Solar Project Secures Grid Connection: 9.9 MW Breakthrough

With the Rudine project moving forward, Qair Croatia’s combined portfolio of wind and solar assets now approaches 79 MW. The company is actively expanding its solar footprint, having also secured grid access for another significant project: the 21 MW Apelovac solar facility located in Sisak-Moslavina County in northern Croatia. This demonstrates a strategic push to diversify its clean energy generation across different regions of the country.

The successful grid connection is instrumental in solidifying Qair Croatia’s role as a leading independent power producer committed to supporting the national transition to sustainable energy sources. The company’s project pipeline highlights a long-term strategy that mirrors its international efforts, such as the development of large-scale solar farms abroad. Executing such ambitious projects also underscores the importance of a resilient renewable energy ecosystem, supported by strong domestic supply chain agreements that are vital for the industry’s growth.
