TERREPOWER Donates 4,900+ Solar Panels to Brighten Haiti

In a significant philanthropic move, TERREPOWER, the solar and EV battery lifecycle management division of BBB Industries, has announced a partnership with the non-profit organization Brighten Haiti. The collaboration centers on a massive donation of more than 4,900 sustainably manufactured solar panels to provide clean, reliable electricity to educational facilities across rural Haiti.

This initiative addresses a critical energy crisis in the nation. In Northern Haiti, an estimated 90% of the population lives without electricity, and fewer than 35% of schools across the country have access to power. “This generous donation is a beacon of hope,” stated Kevin Keene, Founder and President of Brighten Haiti, highlighting the dire circumstances faced by many communities.

The donated panels will fuel Brighten Haiti’s Solar4Schools initiative, a landmark project set to become the largest deployment of solar energy for schools in the country’s history. The goal is to install solar systems in over 300 rural schools, directly benefiting more than 150,000 students by enhancing their learning environments and opening up new technological opportunities.

“Consider the transformation for schools without power, where just 22 solar panels can illuminate and cool classrooms,” Keene explained. “This also enables access to computer labs and technology for the first time. This is not just a donation; it’s a monumental leap towards a brighter and more sustainable future for Haiti.”

Implementation and Impact

TERREPOWER and its solar lifecycle solutions brand, Ontility, are already mobilizing the effort with an initial shipment of 508 solar modules. Beyond providing equipment, the project includes a crucial training component, equipping local workers with the skills needed for solar installation and maintenance, fostering a sustainable local industry.

Maria Caballero, President of TERREPOWER, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership. “I’m thrilled that we have partnered with Brighten Haiti to provide their communities with sustainable solar panels and access to clean energy,” she said. The effort aligns with TERREPOWER’s mission to extend the life of essential materials and promote environmental protection.

TERREPOWER is a division of BBB Industries, LLC, a leading sustainable manufacturer serving global automotive and industrial markets. Its partner, Brighten Haiti, is a U.S.-based NGO founded specifically to combat energy poverty and empower Haitian communities through renewable power solutions essential for education, healthcare, and economic growth.
