In a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy goals, energy and infrastructure solutions provider Jakson Group has forged a strategic partnership with OMC Power to develop a 50 MW solar rooftop project. The ambitious initiative, valued at approximately ₹200 crore (Rs 2 billion), will span all 75 districts of the state, marking a major step towards decentralized solar power generation.
This collaboration is projected to have a substantial environmental impact, offsetting an estimated 62,500 tonnes of carbon emissions annually—an effect comparable to planting 2.5 million trees. The project underscores a shared commitment to advancing India’s sustainable energy transition and enhancing energy security across the region.
Mr Sameer Gupta, CMD of Jakson Group, highlighted the project’s alignment with national objectives. “Our partnership with OMC Power solidifies our dedication to providing cutting-edge solar energy solutions,” he stated. “This collaboration showcases our ability to execute large-scale projects that align with India’s clean energy aspirations. Together, we aim to set new standards of excellence within the renewable energy sector.”
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Rohit Chandra, MD & CEO of OMC Power, emphasized the project’s role in regional development. “This partnership between OMC Power and Jakson Group marks a significant step in Uttar Pradesh’s journey towards sustainable development and energy independence,” he commented. “By advancing solar power adoption across the state, we are reducing carbon emissions, promoting energy savings, and strengthening local infrastructure.”
The widespread installation of solar rooftop systems is set to improve energy accessibility, decrease reliance on the traditional grid, and stimulate local economies through job creation. By championing decentralized energy, the initiative directly supports India’s broader agenda for achieving carbon neutrality. The project’s comprehensive scope and strategic execution could serve as a replicable model for other states, potentially accelerating rooftop solar adoption nationwide and solidifying India’s position as a global leader in the renewable energy sector.
