Aboitiz Power has taken a significant step forward in its renewable energy portfolio by acquiring and energizing a 45-megawatt solar power plant in Armenia. This project marks the company’s first fully owned renewable energy venture outside the Philippines and a major milestone in its international expansion.
Aboitiz Power’s New Solar Plant in Armenia
The ArmPower Solar Plant is located in the Armavir province, approximately 40 kilometers from the nation’s capital, Yerevan. This project is a testament to the Aboitiz Group’s commitment to clean energy.
AboitizPower President and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio underscored the venture’s significance: “This facility is our first fully owned renewable energy asset outside the Philippines, and it plays a crucial role in our growth ambitions and decarbonization goals. This project aligns with our strategy of expanding our presence in key international markets, particularly those with significant growth potential.”
Developed in partnership with globally recognized solar photovoltaic manufacturer Risen Energy Co., Ltd., the ArmPower Solar Plant features 75,000 solar panels. The facility is projected to generate approximately 80 gigawatt-hours of energy annually—enough to power around 30,000 households.
