During a press briefing held at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) in Monrovia, Prince Mohamed Abdul-Majeed, the Managing Director of the Malaikah Energy Group, underscored the company’s unwavering support for President Weah’s development agenda.
Abdul-Majeed highlighted the dual benefits of the project: boosting energy production and fostering industrialization within Liberia. He emphasized the project’s critical role in propelling Liberia’s economic growth and strengthening regional energy integration.

Moreover, he accentuated the necessity of affordable energy for economic progress, pointing out that stable and reliable electricity is a cornerstone for industrial development and job creation. The potential for Liberia to emerge as a regional energy hub, exporting power to neighboring countries, was also a focal point of his remarks.

He announced that the group will commence the installation of 950 megawatts of power for Liberia, with an expected completion timeline of 18 months. Abdul-Majeed emphasized the project’s importance in enhancing Liberia’s energy infrastructure and its contribution to economic growth.
Liberia power project aims to cut electricity cost to 15 cents per kWh
A pivotal aspect of the project is its potential to reduce the cost of electricity in Liberia to 15 cents per kilowatt-hour, making it more accessible for businesses and households.
The Minister of State without Portfolio, Trokon A. Kpui, reaffirmed President Weah’s dedication to advancing Liberia’s electricity sector, describing the project as a substantial step towards achieving energy sustainability for the nation.
