Exploring Hithium’s Advanced BESS Solutions and Hithium BESS projects
Hithium has secured its first deal in Eastern Europe, marking a strategic partnership with German solar specialist Sunways AG. The two companies signed a framework supply agreement to deliver battery energy storage systems (BESS) for Poland and other Eastern European markets. This collaboration will use Hithium’s advanced BESS solutions equipped with 587Ah and 1,175Ah cells, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of energy storage.
The agreement commits to an initial supply of 200MWh of battery capacity, with plans to expand to 500MWh over the next few years. This expansion will support solar-plus-storage projects in Poland and across the region, contributing to the growth of renewable energy integration. Similar projects involving solar and storage are emerging globally, such as the GEI solar and storage project in Zambia, highlighting the increasing importance of BESS in renewable energy initiatives.
Expanding Renewable Energy in Poland with Hithium BESS projects
Poland has seen rapid growth in its solar energy market, with more than 13GW of installed solar capacity by the end of 2023. The country aims to increase its solar capacity to 32GW by 2030 and 45GW by 2040, according to the Polish Photovoltaic Association (SBF POLSKA PV). To support this growth, Poland has also set ambitious targets for energy storage, planning to deploy 4GW (8GWh) of energy storage by 2030 and 6GW (12GWh) by 2040.
The partnership between Hithium and Sunways AG will play a crucial role in achieving these goals. The battery energy storage systems (BESS) will enable the integration of more renewable energy into the grid, enhancing grid stability and reliability. These systems will also support Poland’s efforts to transition to a greener energy future and achieve its renewable energy targets. The integration of solar and BESS is becoming increasingly common, as seen with Verano Energy securing a PPA for their Domeyko solar project, which includes energy storage solutions.
Hithium’s European Expansion Includes Hithium BESS projects
Hithium’s entry into the Eastern European market is part of its broader strategy to expand its presence in Europe. The company has already established a strong foothold in Western Europe, and this new partnership marks its first significant move into the Eastern European energy storage sector.
Hithium’s commitment to the European market is further demonstrated by its recent expansion of its Munich office. This expansion will enhance the company’s ability to serve its European customers, providing them with the latest energy storage solutions and expert support.
