Marking a significant strategic push into the European renewable energy market, SANY Microgrid has officially commenced construction on its first integrated solar-plus-storage project in Romania. According to company reports, the groundbreaking ceremony for the pioneering demonstration facility in Dobresti took place on April 27, 2026, establishing a key foothold for the SANY Group subsidiary in the region.

The Dobresti project is engineered as a state-of-the-art microgrid, combining a photovoltaic (PV) solar farm with a battery energy storage system (BESS). This hybrid model is designed to provide a stable, grid-connected power source by storing solar energy generated during the day for dispatch during periods of low sunlight or peak demand, directly addressing the challenge of renewable intermittency.

While the Dobresti facility is a milestone in itself, it signals even larger ambitions for SANY in Southeast Europe. The company is also linked to the financing and equipment supply for what could become Europe’s largest hybrid energy project, located in Romania’s Timiș County. That massive development is reported to encompass approximately 2.8 GW of solar PV capacity alongside 2.34 GWh of battery storage, underscoring the scale of SANY’s investment in the country’s energy transition.

As SANY’s first solar-plus-storage venture in Romania, the Dobresti project will serve as a crucial showcase of the company’s technological capabilities. It sets a new benchmark for integrated energy solutions in an emerging European market and solidifies the company’s role as a key player in the continent’s shift towards sustainable energy infrastructure.
