Government Approves 868 Billion Forint Solar Energy Funding Development Plan
The Hungarian government has approved an energy development plan valued at 868 billion forints. The plan focuses on multiple energy initiatives including grid modernization, energy storage, wind power, and geothermal projects, rather than solely concentrating on solar energy.
Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced the program on August 6, 2026, during a cabinet meeting, emphasizing the need to enhance the country’s energy infrastructure in light of previous crises. According to reports, the initiative aims to expand energy storage capacity, streamline grid connections for household solar installations, and introduce new wind and geothermal energy projects.
