New Egypt Renewable Energy Target for 2028
Egypt has raised its renewable energy target to 45% of the electricity mix by 2028, an increase from the previous goal of 42% set for 2030. The updated target aims to reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels and is part of Egypt’s broader energy strategy extending through 2040.
The announcement was made by Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, who stated that this new objective reflects an expedited rollout of renewable energy sources in collaboration with the petroleum ministry. The revised target aims to leverage Egypt’s growing capacity in solar and wind energy.
