Agri-Solar Germany Sale: Impressive 91 MW Project Sold

Orrön Energy Sells 91 MW Agri-Solar Project in Germany for €5.6 Million

In a significant move within the European renewable energy sector, Orrön Energy has announced the sale of a 91 MW agri-photovoltaic (Agri-PV) solar project located in eastern Germany. The project, which includes a co-located battery storage option, has been acquired by Gülermak Renewables Ltd. for a total consideration of up to €5.6 million.

This transaction underscores the growing value and strategic importance of innovative solar solutions that optimize land use while contributing to the green energy transition.

The Deal in Detail: Agri-Solar Germany Sale

The financial structure of the agreement is designed to reflect the project’s development lifecycle. Orrön Energy has received an initial payment of €2.4 million upon the completion of the sale. The remaining portion of the €5.6 million total is contingent upon the project achieving specific development milestones, progressing to the “ready-to-build” stage. These milestones are expected to be met no later than 2027.

Currently, the project is at the “ready-to-permit” stage. As part of the deal, Orrön Energy will continue to spearhead the development process, leveraging its expertise to bring the project to fruition post-sale. The total consideration equates to approximately €62,000 per MW, reflecting the project’s advanced stage and inherent value.

A Strategic Approach to Land Use and Energy

A key feature of this 91 MW project is its design as an agri-photovoltaic (Agri-PV) system. This innovative approach allows for the dual use of land, enabling solar power generation to coexist with agricultural activities. By mounting solar panels in a way that permits farming to continue underneath or between rows, Agri-PV addresses land-use conflicts and maximizes the productivity of a single plot of land.

Furthermore, the inclusion of a co-located battery storage option positions the project for the future, providing the capability to store excess energy and release it during peak demand, thereby enhancing grid stability and reliability.

Part of a Broader Divestment Strategy

This sale is a component of Orrön Energy’s wider strategy of developing and divesting its German solar portfolio. Since the summer of 2025, the company has entered into agreements to sell a total of 400 MW of solar projects in the country.

These divestments are projected to generate total proceeds of up to €23 million. A significant portion of this revenue, approximately €17 million, remains contingent on achieving future development milestones, highlighting Orrön Energy’s business model of creating value through the entire project development cycle before monetizing the assets. This latest transaction with Gülermak Renewables marks another successful step in executing that strategy.
