Iloilo Province Celebrates Ajuy solar project: 64 MW Breakthrough, Impressive Power
A new era for renewable energy has begun in Iloilo province with the official groundbreaking for the Ajuy-1 Solar Power Project. This landmark 64 MW ground-mounted facility represents a significant investment in the Philippines’ clean energy future, spearheaded by developer Jin Navitas Solaris. The project, located in Tipacla, Ajuy, is the first major solar installation of its kind for the province.
With a total investment of PHP 2.37 billion ($41.5 million), the Ajuy-1 plant will span an extensive 47.86-hectare site. Construction commenced following a groundbreaking ceremony in mid-July 2024, signaling a firm commitment to diversifying the region’s energy mix and reducing its carbon footprint. The project is a critical component of the national strategy to increase renewable capacity and achieve greater energy independence.
Enhancing Grid Stability with Ajuy solar project: 64 MW Breakthrough, Impressive Power
Upon completion, the Ajuy-1 project will connect to the Panay Island grid through the Sara–Panit 69 kV transmission line. This integration is expected to significantly enhance grid stability, particularly for northern Iloilo, an outcome confirmed by a required System Impact Study. By injecting 64 MW of clean power into the local network, the facility will help meet growing electricity demand sustainably. Furthermore, large-scale developments like this stimulate the entire renewable energy ecosystem, creating opportunities within the local supply chain, including for the solar panel manufacturing sector and other related industries, driving the nation’s green transition forward.
