Amazon Solar Farm Begins Full Operations with 1.4M PanelsĀ 

​EDF Renewables North America and Enbridge Inc. have brought Fox Squirrel Solar, a massive 577 MWac/749 MWdc Amazon solar farm in Madison County, Ohio, into full commercial operation.

As one of the largest solar projects east of the Mississippi, the new facility features an impressive 1.4 million panels and 159 inverters.

​A Key Step Toward Sustainability

Fox Squirrel Solar will supply its full generation capacity to Amazon under power purchase agreements, supporting the company’s Climate Pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. With demand for corporate renewable energy commitments rising, projects like this one will help Ohio attract businesses and grow its economy.

Kate O’Hair, Senior Vice President for Onshore Development at EDF Renewables North America, hailed the project’s completion, emphasizing the importance of partnerships with landowners, local communities, and project stakeholders. To bring the project to life, EDF Renewables partnered with Geenex Solar. O’Hair also highlighted the economic impact, including the creation of new jobs and millions of dollars flowing into Madison County.

Tom Carbone, Vice President of Power Business Development at Enbridge, also noted the project’s significance, describing it as a key milestone in the company’s renewable energy strategy. He affirmed Enbridge’s commitment to supporting Amazon’s sustainability goals with 100% clean, renewable energy from Fox Squirrel Solar.
