Arctech to Supply 2.3GW Solar Trackers for ACWA Project

Chinese tracker manufacturer Arctech will supply 2.3 GW of its SkyLine II solar trackers for ACWA Powerโ€™s Haden project in Saudi Arabia.

Arctech Secures Solar Tracker Deal with China Energy Engineering

Arctech, a leading Chinese provider of solar trackers, has secured a 2.3 GW supply contract with China Energy Engineering Group for ACWA Power’s PIF4-Haden project in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration, which aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, is designed to enhance energy efficiency in the region’s challenging desert environment.

The deal will deliver Arctechโ€™s SkyLine II 1P single-axis solar trackers, solidifying the companyโ€™s presence in the MEA region and raising its total installed capacity there to over 15 GW. This milestone is part of Arctechโ€™s ongoing international expansion, following reported revenues exceeding CNY 1.9 billion (US$226.7 million) in the first half of 2023.

SkyLine II Boosts Resilience and Efficiency in Harsh Conditions

The project site, known for its vast desert terrain and frequent high winds, presents challenging conditions. To meet these demands, the SkyLine II trackers feature an advanced synchronous multi-point drive mechanism that allows them to stow horizontally at a wind speed of 22 m/s.

Saudi Vision 2030 Project to Cut 147M Tons of CO2

As a key project aligned with the โ€œSaudi Vision 2030โ€ initiative, commercial operations are expected to begin by early 2027. Over its 25-year lifespan, the project is projected to produce around 156.189 billion kilowatt-hours and cut nearly 147 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Since launching its local operations in 2017, Arctech has established offices in Dubai and Riyadh, alongside manufacturing facilities in Jeddah. The company now provides a full range of services tailored to Middle Eastern clients, including technical support, supply chain management, after-sales service, local operations and maintenance, and brand marketing strategies.

As part of its Vision 2030 initiative, the Saudi government aims for clean energy to comprise half of its total energy mix by the end of the decade, with solar power expected to play a major role. Looking ahead, Arctech plans to bolster its support for this vision by enhancing its localization strategies and providing comprehensive white-glove services.
