Chinese tracker manufacturer Arctech will supply 2.3 GW of its Skyline II solar trackers for ACWA Power’s Haden project in Saudi Arabia.
Arctech Secures Solar Tracker Deal with China Energy Engineering
Arctech Solar, a leading Chinese provider of solar trackers, has secured a major 2.3 GW supply contract with China Energy Engineering Group for ACWA Power’s PIF4-Haden project in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration supports Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance energy efficiency in the region’s challenging desert environment.
Under the agreement, Arctech will deliver its SkyLine II 1P single-axis solar trackers, solidifying the company’s presence in the MEA region and boosting its total installed capacity there to over 15 GW. This milestone is part of Arctech’s ongoing international expansion, with the company reporting revenues exceeding CNY 1.9 billion (US$226.7 million) in the first half of 2023.
SkyLine II Boosts Resilience and Efficiency in Solar Projects
The project site is characterized by vast desert terrain and frequent high winds, creating challenging conditions for solar installations. The SkyLine II, however, is designed to operate efficiently in these environments.

The SkyLine II features a synchronous multi-point drive mechanism that allows the trackers to stow horizontally at wind speeds of 22 m/s. This capability ensures resilience against harsh weather, improves durability, and enhances power generation—ultimately maximizing the power station’s investment returns over its operational life. Additionally, the SkyLine II’s modular design allows for flexible scaling, enhancing land use efficiency and reducing installation costs. Its ±60° tracking range further simplifies the installation process.
Vision 2030 Project Set to Cut 147M Tons of CO2 Over Lifespan
As a key project aligned with the “Saudi Vision 2030” initiative, the facility is expected to begin commercial operations by early 2027. Over its 25-year lifespan, the project is projected to generate around 156.189 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, cutting nearly 147 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Since launching its local operations in 2017, Arctech has established offices in Dubai, UAE, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as manufacturing facilities in Jeddah. The company now provides a full range of services tailored to Middle Eastern clients, including technical support, supply chain management, after-sales service, local operations and maintenance, and brand marketing strategies.
As part of its Vision 2030 initiative, the Saudi government aims for clean energy to make up half of its total energy mix by the end of the decade, with solar power expected to play a major role. Looking ahead, Arctech plans to further support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by strengthening its localization strategies and providing comprehensive, white-glove services.
