Bangladesh solar exports: Impressive US deal set for 2026

Bangladesh Solar Panel Exports to US Begin

In a landmark development for its manufacturing sector, Bangladesh has officially entered the global renewable energy market by shipping its first-ever consignment of solar panels to the United States. This move signals a new era for the nation’s industrial capabilities and its potential role in the international green energy supply chain.

A Milestone for ‘Made in Bangladesh’ with Solar Exports

On June 19, 2025, Radiant Alliance, a subsidiary of the prominent East Coast Group conglomerate, dispatched its inaugural shipment of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to the US-based company CleanGrid Incorporation. This shipment marks the beginning of a significant four-year export agreement valued at over Tk215 crore, as reported by The Business Standard.

Under the terms of the deal, Radiant Alliance will supply a total of 64.60 megawatts (MW) of solar modules by 2028. The delivery for 2025 alone is slated to be 12.40 MW. This achievement is not just a commercial success for Radiant Alliance—which has over a decade of experience producing modules for Bangladesh’s domestic solar home system market—but a historic first for the entire country.

Seizing a Global Opportunity for Bangladesh solar exports

This strategic entry into the US market comes at an opportune time. Industry experts highlight that US anti-dumping policies on Chinese solar panels have created a significant market opening for new players. By stepping in, Bangladesh can position itself as a viable alternative in a sector historically dominated by manufacturing giants like China, India, and Vietnam.

The Solar Module Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh (SMMAB) noted that this export milestone is a powerful demonstration of the country’s capacity to produce high-quality, export-grade renewable energy products that meet international standards.

Future Outlook and Growing Confidence in Bangladesh solar exports

The initial deal with CleanGrid Incorporation may be just the beginning. According to reports, another substantial order for 300 MW of solar panels for the year 2026 is already under negotiation. This indicates growing international confidence in Bangladesh’s manufacturing prowess and its ability to scale production to meet global demand.

As the world accelerates its transition to clean energy, Bangladesh’s ability to carve out a niche in the solar panel export market represents a critical step toward economic diversification and sustainable industrial growth. This first shipment is more than just a transaction; it’s a statement of ambition and a promising sign of what’s to come for the nation’s burgeoning renewable energy sector.
