Bhutan solar project: Unique 120 MW Bid Announced

The Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) has officially invited international bids for the construction of a 120 MW solar power plant in Bhutan. This significant move, part of the larger Asian Development Bank (ADB) financed Solar Farm Expansion Project, marks a pivotal step in Bhutan’s journey towards energy diversification.

The project, located in Wobthang, is set to become the largest ground-mounted solar power station in the country. This initiative is crucial for Bhutan as it aims to lessen its heavy reliance on hydropower, which currently constitutes a significant portion of its energy generation.
