Algeria has taken a monumental step in its renewable energy journey with the launch of the Biskra Solar Power Plant. This ambitious 300 MW project—unprecedented in scale for the country—was inaugurated by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, alongside the Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy, Samia Moualfi, as reported by local media.
Located in the Wilaya of Biskra, this solar power plant is the first installment of the Solar 1000 MW program, which seeks to significantly boost Algeria’s renewable capacity. This initiative involves constructing nine solar photovoltaic plants across various provinces, including El Mghair, El Oued, Ouargla, Touggourt, Ghardaia, Bechar, El Bayadh, and El Menia, in addition to Biskra.
