Germany Solar Capacity 2026: Adding 7.39 GW
Germany added 7.39 GW of net solar capacity during the first six months of 2026, raising its cumulative installed solar capacity to 125.37 GW by the end of June 2026. This information was reported by the Federal Network Agency’s (Bundesnetzagentur) Market Master Data Register, which is the official source for Germany’s energy capacity statistics.
The net addition resulted from commissioning 7.48 GW of new solar projects while retiring 84.3 MW of older capacity. The newly installed capacity was distributed across various types of installations including:
- Ground-mounted systems: 4.01 GW
- Building-mounted systems: 3.19 GW
- Plug-in balcony solar systems: 278.1 MW
- Other solutions (e.g., parking areas, noise barriers): 3.7 MW
This growth continues Germany’s position as a leading solar market in Europe, as the country added over 12 GW of solar capacity in the previous year.
