Grid Parity, a leading Chinese manufacturer of glass-glass modules, has unveiled a new solar module designed specifically for agrivoltaic systems.
Grid Parity’s New Glass-Glass Module for Agrivoltaic Applications
Grid Parity’s latest transparent module for agrivoltaics features a durable 2 mm glass-glass frame. Equipped with 144 half-cut busbar solar cells and monocrystalline PERC technology, this glass-glass PV panel generates 550 W of power at an impressive 20.5% efficiency, ensuring strong performance even in low-light conditions. To meet a variety of energy requirements, its specifications include an open-circuit voltage of 49.05 V, a short-circuit current of 14.06 A, a maximum power voltage of 40.56 V, and a maximum power current of 13.57 A.
Grid Parity’s Advanced Glass-Glass Module Design Features
Built to endure extreme temperatures from -40 to 85 C, the new module has a temperature coefficient of -0.36% per degree Celsius. It measures 2,278 mm by 1,133 mm by 35 mm, weighs 33.9 kg, and is enclosed in an anodized aluminum alloy frame for enhanced durability.
The module’s transparent backsheet is a key feature, allowing 25% light transmittance so that sufficient sunlight can reach the crops beneath. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for agrivoltaic applications.
Grid Parity offers a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year power output guarantee, which ensures at least 97.5% of the initial power output in the first year and an expected retention of 87.4% after 30 years.
Grid Parity’s Commitment to Agrivoltaics with Glass-Glass Module Technology
Grid Parity is committed to integrating solar energy with agriculture through its agrivoltaic systems. These systems address land scarcity and enhance energy efficiency, promoting sustainable farming practices by generating clean electricity while supporting plant growth.
The company’s glass-glass PV modules are ideal for agrivoltaics, offering high light transmission to create an optimal environment for crops. These modules also help reduce water evaporation and provide shade, which can improve crop yields in arid regions and support both sustainable agriculture and renewable energy goals.
