Huasun has secured two major contracts with PowerChina, solidifying its leadership in HJT solar module technology. The company won a 500 MWp procurement for n-type heterojunction (HJT) modules and a 339.68 MWp procurement for the Qinhuangdao Changli offshore PV pilot project. These wins strengthen Huasun's position in the renewable energy sector and deepen its partnership with PowerChina.
Offshore Photovoltaics and the Energy Transition
The project site is 7.3 kilometres offshore, in waters between 6 and 12 meters deep. It spans 279 hectares, requiring strict construction standards. Huasun will provide its V-Ocean HJT solar modules, which feature 210mm HJT cells, double-glass encapsulation and double-sided microcrystalline technology. These modules are the first in the world to receive certification for marine environments. They can withstand salt mist, water vapour and UV exposure, ensuring durability and reliability in offshore conditions.
Offshore photovoltaics are becoming a crucial part of the global energy transition. Policymakers and industry leaders are focusing on offshore solar projects to meet growing clean energy demands. According to Shandong’s "14th Five-Year Plan for Power Development," the province aims to build two large offshore photovoltaic bases in the Bohai Rim and Yellow Sea regions. The Qinhuangdao Changli offshore project is the first large-scale offshore solar initiative in Bohai Bay. This project is also Huasun’s second offshore photovoltaic project with PowerChina.
Strengthening the HJT Solar Module Market
Huasun’s success in securing the 500 MWp procurement bid showcases its strength in the vertical integration of ingots, wafers, cells and modules. The company's focus on quality and innovation gives it a competitive edge in the industry. Its HJT solar modules have proven effective in various applications, including mountainous, agrivoltaic and offshore solar projects.
The Qinhuangdao Changli offshore PV pilot project marks a significant milestone in China’s renewable energy landscape. It represents a major step toward the large-scale adoption of offshore solar energy. The project’s success will set a precedent for future offshore PV developments in China and beyond.
