Origis Energy Gets JP Morgan Backing for 200MW Solar Project

US renewable energy company, Origis Energy has obtained a tax equity commitment from JP Morgan for a 200 MW solar project that includes 50 MW of battery storage in Mississippi.

Origis Energy Secured Funding for Golden Triangle I Solar Project

Origis Energy announced a tax equity agreement that leverages Investment Tax Credit (ITC) incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act to finance the completion of Golden Triangle I, a 200 MWac solar project with 50 MW of battery storage. Operating under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the federally-owned Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the project will deliver clean energy, enhance grid resilience and offer competitive rates.

"The team at Origis Energy is focused on delivering high-quality projects for TVA, and our other customers. Golden Triangle I is an excellent example of that focus, and we appreciate J.P. Morgan's support on it," said Vikas Anand, Chief Executive Officer, Origis Energy.

Golden Triangle I to Boost Local Economy and Utilize ITC Incentives

Golden Triangle I—set to be constructed in Lowndes County—is one of four Origis projects in Mississippi for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) featuring a total capacity of 750 MWac and 350 MW of battery storage. This complex is projected to generate $182 million in immediate construction and hiring benefits for the region, along with approximately $7.2 million in estimated economic benefits throughout its lifespan.

The tax equity agreement leverages Investment Tax Credit (ITC) incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act. All four solar projects contracted by TVA will supply electricity to large industrial customers in the area, including Meta Platforms Inc.

Earlier this year, Origis began commercial operations at the 150-MWac Golden Triangle II solar farm, which includes 50 MW of battery storage.
