Panama Solar Park El Espino: A Major Leap in Solar Energy
Panama has unveiled its largest solar power facility to date: the $70 million El Espino solar park. Located in Coclé, the project marks a significant advancement in Panama’s renewable energy landscape, featuring a vast array of solar panels with an electricity generation capacity of 105.6 MW.
El Espino will help meet the nation’s escalating energy demands while reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. This initiative aligns with the global shift toward cleaner energy, as reflected in ambitions like Brunei’s goal to achieve 30% renewable energy by 2035 (Brunei renewable energy 2035: 30% Goal).
Meanwhile, the growing importance and complexity of the global solar market are highlighted by complex issues in tariffs and international trade, such as a 2024 petition challenging Laos solar imports (Shocking 2024 petition challenges Laos solar imports).
