Poland Renewable Energy Zones Approved
Poland has approved its first fast-track renewable energy zones in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, covering 105.4 hectares across four municipalities: Złotów, Lwówek, Rawicz, and Słupca. These zones could support approximately 66–80 MW of solar capacity.
Poland Renewable Energy Streamlined Permitting Process
Planning and much of the environmental assessment will be completed before developers submit permit applications, potentially reducing project preparation time from three to four years down to one to two years. Environmental authorities will be required to complete reviews of projects with a capacity of at least 150 kW within a maximum of 45 days, an improvement from current timelines that can extend up to 150 days.
EU Regulations and Poland Renewable Energy Future Work
This measure aligns with the EU’s revised Renewable Energy Directive, which mandates maximum permitting periods of 12 months for onshore projects and 24 months for offshore projects in designated acceleration areas. The approval of these zones is Poland’s initial move toward facilitating faster renewable project deployment.
Poland Renewable Energy Offshore Wind Development
Separately, Poland is also expanding its offshore wind infrastructure. The T5 terminal in Gdańsk will serve as the installation base for the Baltica 2 wind farm, which is expected to start generating electricity in the first half of 2027.
