Poland renewable PPA: Impressive 15-Year Deal Signed

In a landmark move for Poland’s renewable energy sector, Polish utility Energa has signed a major Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the global energy company EDP. This significant deal involves a 322 MW hybrid wind and solar portfolio, marking one of the largest hybrid PPAs in the country’s history and a major step forward in its green transition.

A Landmark Hybrid Poland renewable PPA

Energa Obrót, part of the Orlen Group, finalized the agreement with EDP for a portfolio of four projects located in the Wielkopolska region. The deal is a pioneering example of a hybrid PPA, combining the output from operational wind farms with two new photovoltaic installations to optimize grid capacity and ensure a more consistent energy supply.

Starting in 2026, the projects will deliver approximately 600 GWh of clean energy annually to Energa. This is a substantial volume, expected to slash COâ‚‚ emissions by over 600,000 tonnes per year. Leszek Mrazek, President of Energa Obrót, described the agreement as a “major step,” emphasizing its role in securing long-term price stability and supporting the company’s risk management strategy amidst volatile wholesale markets. This agreement is one of several significant PPAs advancing Poland’s energy goals, similar to how the Emeren Poland Signs 7-Year PPA for 15MW Solar Power Plant is contributing to the country’s renewable capacity.

EDP’s Expanding Footprint in Poland renewable PPA Market

For EDP, a leading global renewable energy producer, this PPA strengthens its strategic presence in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. The deal boosts its Polish portfolio to over 1.3 GW of installed renewable capacity and contributes to its global total of over 16 GW in long-term contracts.

The company’s commitment to the region is clear, with this agreement being part of a broader push that includes other significant deals in Poland and Romania. This sustained investment from major players like EDP highlights the growing confidence in Poland’s renewable energy market, which is seeing substantial financial backing, as demonstrated by other large-scale investments like the Qair renewable energy : Impressive €240M Loan Secured for wind and solar projects.

Powering Poland’s Green Transition with renewable PPA

This agreement between Energa and EDP is a powerful indicator of the accelerating shift towards clean energy in Poland. Corporate PPAs are becoming an essential tool for decarbonization, complementing government-led initiatives like the Poland renewable energy auction.

The deal also reflects the country’s rapid solar expansion. With Poland PV energy storage: Impressive 21 GW Spurs Demand, the nation has solidified its position as a major European solar market. Large-scale corporate agreements are becoming increasingly common, with major corporations like Amazon also securing significant capacity, as seen in the recent Amazon solar power Poland: Impressive 164 MW Deal Signed.

By securing a stable supply of green energy, Energa not only advances its own sustainability goals but also contributes significantly to the Polish economy and the nation’s broader energy transition.
