The Government of Sierra Leone has prioritized the expansion of renewable energy solutions, specifically targeting solar mini-grids and off-grid solar networks to address the country’s energy challenges.
This strategic initiative includes a 30 MW sustainable energy project, with Easy Solar managing 13 MW of the total capacity. This project represents a significant move towards enhancing the nation’s sustainable energy infrastructure.
To bolster these initiatives, the International Monetary Fund has approved $211.5 million in climate funding specifically for Sierra Leone. This funding is aimed at promoting alternative renewable energy sources and supporting forest restoration efforts.
