Renewable Properties Expands Assets With 50MW Solar Projects

Renewable Properties has expanded its solar project portfolio with the completion of 50 MW of installations across four states. This milestone underscores the company’s commitment to small-scale utility and community solar, with projects that include traditional community solar, low-income community solar, and utility-scale installations.

Major Solar Project Expansions Across the U.S.

In New York, five community solar projects accounted for over 18 MW of this expansion, with installations in Batavia and the Village of Minoa completed in July. The Slayton Settlement Road Solar A & B projects in Lockport introduce a unique agrivoltaic approach to the portfolio, integrating sheep farming for vegetation management alongside a dedicated beekeeping area.

In California, three projects in Chowchilla and El Nido added nearly 15 MW to the portfolio. These installations are part of the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Disadvantaged Communities Green Tariff (DAC-GT) programme, which provides low-income households with power from the projects along with a 20% bill credit.

Maine saw three community solar projects come online in 2024, contributing over 11 MW with completions in Manchester (July), Winslow (August), and Bangor (November). North Carolina added a 6.62-MW project in Gibson, completed in November, that participates in the state’s qualifying facility programme supporting independent power generation.

Economic and Environmental Benefits for Local Communities

The Slayton sites also enhance pollinator habitats with a specialized seed mix, an approach that not only benefits honeybees but also improves grazing conditions for sheep. These dual-use projects help maintain the region’s agricultural output—ensuring that honey, wool, and lamb production continues—while also allowing a third-generation organic dairy farm to remain within the family.

Aaron Halimi, founder and CEO of Renewable Properties, stated: “These projects exemplify how we accomplish that mission, with a majority being community solar installations that bring a host of benefits to their communities, including energy bill savings, local jobs, increased revenue and local environmental benefits.”

Future Expansion and Renewable Energy Initiatives

Renewable Properties specializes in small-scale utility and community solar projects and invests in energy storage and EV infrastructure across the United States. Operating in 15 states, the company has over 1 GW of solar, energy storage, and EV infrastructure under development and currently manages more than 155 MW of projects that are either in operation or under construction.

To advance solar energy systems, Renewable Properties works closely with developers, landowners, utilities, and financial institutions. The company’s focus remains on expanding access to clean energy while delivering financial and environmental benefits to communities.

As part of its broader portfolio, Renewable Properties is building new electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs for last-mile delivery fleets in the San Francisco Bay Area. The company has 235 MW of solar projects currently in operation or under construction across 51 sites.

Looking ahead to 2025, the company expects to complete another 90 MW from its 1.2-GW development pipeline of solar, energy storage, and EV infrastructure projects. This continued growth, highlighted by the latest 50 MW expansion, allows the company to deliver projects that provide both clean energy and significant community benefits, reinforcing its role in the clean energy transition across the United States.
