Grid Connection Secured for the Rudine Solar Project
Qair Croatia has reached a major milestone for its 9.9 MWp Rudine solar project by securing a grid connection from HOPS (Hrvatski operator prijenosnog sustava). This breakthrough approval paves the way for the development of the photovoltaic power plant in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, a picturesque region in southern Croatia.
Located in the municipality of Župa Dubrovačka, about 15 km from the city of Dubrovnik, the Rudine project was acquired by Qair Croatia in 2022 as its first solar venture in the country. The project complements the company’s commitment to renewable energy, which already includes the recent completion of the 36 MW Jelinak wind farm in Split-Dalmatia County. Qair Croatia is also constructing the 39.6 MW Krtolin wind farm, scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2025.
Expanding Croatia’s Renewable Energy Portfolio
The Rudine project expands Qair Croatia’s renewable energy portfolio, which now includes a combined 79 MW of wind and solar power. The company is also advancing its capabilities, having secured grid connection approval for the 21 MW Apelovac solar project in Sisak-Moslavina County, northern Croatia.
The Rudine solar project is central to Qair Croatia’s strategy to increase its renewable energy capacity and support the country’s transition to clean energy. Securing grid connections and developing new sites solidifies Qair Croatia’s position as a major player in Croatia’s growing renewable energy sector. A Broader Commitment to Croatian Renewables
As a leading developer in Croatia, Qair Croatia focuses on both wind and solar power. The company’s portfolio includes several operational and planned projects that will significantly contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals in the coming years.
Securing the grid connection for the Rudine solar project marks a significant step for Qair Croatia as it expands its presence in the renewable energy sector. A strong project pipeline and a firm commitment to sustainability position the company to play a key role in Croatia’s energy transition. This initiative aligns with broader global efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing and supply chains within the renewable energy industry, as seen in similar projects like the Premier Energies’ 350 MW Solar Agreement.
