SolarTeam Completes Solar Projects for C. Favorita and KFC

Marking a significant milestone for renewable energy in Ecuador, SolarTeam announced the completion of two of the nation’s largest corporate ground-mounted solar projects on July 1, 2024. The new installations will provide clean energy for retail giant Corporación Favorita and fast-food chain Grupo KFC, demonstrating a growing commitment to sustainability in the country’s commercial sector.

Pablo Lopez, CEO of SolarTeam, expressed his enthusiasm for the achievement, stating, “We’re excited to have completed these innovative projects for Corporación Favorita and Grupo KFC.” The projects were developed using advanced structural solutions from Jurchen Technology, enabling rapid and efficient deployment.

KFC Powers 26 Stores with Landmark Solar Farm

In a pioneering move for Ecuador’s commercial sector, the 2.5 MW DC / 1.29 MW AC solar farm for Kentucky Fried Chicken is now the country’s largest commercial self-supply project. Located in El Inga, Quito, the installation is the first of its kind to generate power in a centralized location to supply energy to 26 different KFC stores across the city. This groundbreaking photovoltaic complex utilizes 2,720 Jinko 550W solar panels and 40 Huawei inverters (a mix of 60 KTL and 100 KTL models) to meet the energy demands of its retail operations.

Corporación Favorita Achieves 100% Renewable Supply for 20 Locations

Simultaneously, SolarTeam commissioned a 2.4 MW DC / 2 MW AC solar complex for Corporación Favorita in Quito-Sangolquí. This facility is engineered to satisfy 100% of the renewable energy needs for 20 of the company’s commercial premises. The plant features 4,368 Jinko 550W panels and a variety of Huawei inverters (100 KTL, 60 KTL, and 40 KTL). The project underscores C. Favorita’s commitment to environmental sustainability and sets a new benchmark for corporate renewable adoption in the region.

Innovative Technology for Optimized Deployment

The successful and swift implementation of these large-scale projects was facilitated by the use of PEG EW high-density racking systems from Jurchen Technology. This German-engineered solution optimizes land use and is designed for durability, even in high-wind conditions, allowing SolarTeam to deliver scalable and reliable solar solutions. SolarTeam, a leading energy advisor in Ecuador, leverages its industry experience and partnerships with technology leaders to help businesses transition seamlessly to sustainable energy sources.
