Joined by ministry undersecretary Macham Macham and a team of technical staff, the minister’s inspection focused on construction progress, operational planning, and the overall readiness of the plant. Powering a Brighter Future for Juba with the South Sudan solar project

The Nesitu solar plant is a landmark government-backed initiative designed to tackle the nation’s severe energy challenges. Once operational, the facility is set to generate 20 megawatts (MW) of clean solar power, supported by a substantial 35 MW battery storage system. This storage capacity is crucial for ensuring a stable and reliable power supply, even when the sun isn’t shining.

Construction on the ambitious project began in 2019, with Egyptian contractor Elsuadi implementing the build, and Trinity Company slated to manage its operations.
