Sremska Mitrovica solar plant: Stunning 2026 launch

Sremska Mitrovica is slated to become the site of one of Europe’s largest solar power plants, a project spearheaded by the Serbian company MT-Komex. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, with the first phase expected to come online by 2025 and the full plant operational by 2026.

This initiative joins a wider European push for solar energy. While the 263 MW plant recently launched by TotalEnergies in France is currently Europe’s largest, the Serbian project aims to compete on a similar scale.

Momentum is also building across the continent, with projects like Slovakia’s goal of 400 MW by 2027, Slovenia’s recent approval of a 30 MW solar facility, and Latvia’s securing of €82 million in financing for a 148 MW solar farm in the Baltics.
