Sungrow Invests €230M in Polish Factory to Boost Clean Energy Supply
In a significant move to strengthen Europe’s renewable energy infrastructure, global solar and energy storage leader Sungrow has announced a major investment of €230 million to establish its first European manufacturing facility. The new plant, located in Wałbrzych, Poland, is poised to become a cornerstone of the continent’s clean energy supply chain, accelerating the transition to a sustainable future.
The announcement, made on February 5, 2026, details plans for a state-of-the-art, 65,400 m² facility dedicated to producing key components for the renewable energy sector. This strategic investment underscores Sungrow’s commitment to the European market and aligns with the European Union’s ambitious goals for energy independence and decarbonization.
Bolstering Local Production and Supply Chains at the Sungrow Polish Factory
The Wałbrzych factory will focus on manufacturing two critical product lines: photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems (ESS). With operations expected to commence within the next 12 months, the plant is projected to have an impressive annual production capacity of up to 20 GW for PV inverters and 12.5 GWh for energy storage systems.
By manufacturing these essential components directly within Europe, Sungrow aims to significantly shorten delivery times, enhance logistical efficiency, and build greater resilience in the supply chain. This move directly addresses the growing demand for renewable energy technologies and supports the objectives of the EU’s Net-Zero Industry Act, which seeks to scale up clean technology manufacturing within the Union.
Shawn Shi, President of Sungrow Europe, highlighted the strategic importance of the facility, stating, “This new factory… will bring us closer to our customers, enabling a more efficient response to market demands.”
A Strategic Choice in the Heart of Europe for the Sungrow Polish Factory
The selection of Wałbrzych, in Poland’s Lower Silesian Voivodeship, was a deliberate choice. The region offers a robust industrial foundation, a skilled workforce with expertise in electronics and advanced manufacturing, and a strategic location that bridges Western and Eastern Europe. The project has received a warm welcome from local authorities, including the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, who recognize its potential for significant economic impact.
The new facility is expected to create approximately 400 local jobs, providing a substantial boost to the regional economy and leveraging the area’s strong network of technical universities and talent.
Expanding a Global Presence with the Sungrow Polish Factory
While this is Sungrow’s first factory in Europe, the company is no stranger to the region, having established its European headquarters in Munich, Germany, in 2005. The Polish plant will complement Sungrow’s existing manufacturing bases in China, India, and Thailand, expanding its total global inverter capacity.
This €230 million investment is more than just the construction of a new building; it represents a powerful commitment to Europe’s green transition.
