Thailand solar farm project gains approval for 1,500 MW capacity

Thailand Solar Farm Project Approval Details

Thailand’s National Energy Policy Committee (NEPC) has approved a 1,500-megawatt community solar farm project consisting of ground-mounted solar plants, each no larger than 10 MW, to be distributed under a principle of one project per sub-district to ensure broad benefit distribution.

Thailand Solar Farm Contract Structure and Developer Limits

The project will be structured with 25-year Non-Firm contracts featuring a Feed-in Tariff (FiT) of 2.1679 baht per kWh. Each developer will be allowed to build up to 30 MW total to prevent monopolies in project development.

Thailand Solar Farm Selection Process

The NEPC has shifted the selection method from a “first-come, first-served” approach to a competitive scoring system based on project quality. This change aims to enhance the effectiveness of project implementation.
