Vietnam renewable energy: Stunning expansion with ACC deal

Gresham House Expands Renewable Energy in Vietnam with Asia Clean Capital Acquisition

In a significant move to bolster its presence in Southeast Asia’s burgeoning renewable energy sector, UK-based specialist asset manager Gresham House has announced an agreement to acquire Asia Clean Capital Vietnam (ACCV). The acquisition, made through its SUSI Asia Energy Transition Fund (SAETF), positions Gresham House to accelerate the development of clean energy solutions for commercial and industrial clients across Vietnam.

A Strategic Acquisition for Vietnam renewable energy Growth

The deal, confirmed on March 11, 2026, will see SAETF become the sole equity owner of ACCV. This follows Gresham House’s earlier acquisition of SUSI Partners, which has since been integrated into its expansive Energy Transition division. While the financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, the strategic value is clear.

ACCV has established itself as a leading developer of on-site renewable energy projects in Vietnam since its founding in 2020. The company specializes in providing distributed clean energy solutions, primarily through rooftop solar installations for multinational and domestic industrial clients. This focus aligns perfectly with Vietnam’s growing energy needs, driven by a robust industrial sector and a national commitment to decarbonization.

Wymen Chan, Head of Energy Transition for Asia at Gresham House, highlighted the immense potential of the Vietnamese market. He pointed to the country’s strong industrial growth, rising energy demand, and supportive government policies—such as the framework for Direct Power Purchase Agreements (DPPA)—as key factors driving the investment.

Integrating into a Pan-Asian Platform for Vietnam renewable energy

The acquisition of ACCV is a cornerstone of Gresham House’s broader strategy for the region. ACCV will become a core component of SAETF’s “OASIS” platform, which is dedicated to commercial and industrial renewable projects across Southeast Asia.

This platform operates alongside other strategic initiatives, including:
* SARA: A partnership focused on utility-scale renewable projects.
* Sustainable Energy Solutions Partners (SESP): A venture targeting waste-to-energy biogas projects in Thailand.

Together, these platforms demonstrate a comprehensive approach to investing in the energy transition, with active projects in Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia. Gresham House’s Energy Transition division now manages approximately €3.1 billion in assets, focusing on renewables, battery storage, and energy efficiency.

The Future of Clean Energy in Vietnam renewable energy

Under the new ownership, the existing ACCV management team will be supported by Gresham House to scale its operations significantly. The goal is to expand its project pipeline and deepen partnerships with top-tier multinational manufacturers operating in Vietnam. Following the transaction, ACCV Holdings will complete the sale of its stake, and founder Bruce Hicks will step down from his role.

This acquisition not only strengthens Gresham House’s portfolio but also provides a vital injection of capital and expertise into Vietnam’s renewable energy landscape. By focusing on on-site solar and exploring opportunities in battery energy storage systems (BESS), the company is well-positioned to help Vietnam meet its ambitious climate targets and power its economic growth sustainably.
