In a significant boost for India’s renewable energy sector, Waaree Energies, the nation’s largest solar PV module manufacturer, has finalized a contract to supply 280 MW of advanced solar modules to Mahindra Susten. The agreement, announced in late June 2024, will support the development of a major photovoltaic project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two industry leaders.
High-Efficiency Technology Following Waaree Energies Secures 280 MW Solar Module Deal with Mahindra Susten
Under the terms of the deal, Waaree Energies will deliver its ELITE Series, N-Type TopCon 580Wp modules. These state-of-the-art panels are recognized for their high efficiency and durability, and they come with a 30-year output performance warranty, ensuring long-term reliability for the project. The supply of these modules is scheduled to commence in December 2024, marking a critical milestone for Mahindra Susten’s Independent Power Producer (IPP) project pipeline.
This contract marks the second major order Mahindra Susten has placed with Waaree within the current financial year, underscoring a deepening collaboration. The use of domestically manufactured, high-performance photovoltaic components aligns with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, which aims to foster self-reliance in key manufacturing sectors.
Strengthening India’s Solar Leadership After Waaree Energies Secures 280 MW Solar Module Deal with Mahindra Susten
The project is located in Bikaner, a region in Rajasthan known for its high solar irradiance, making it an ideal site for large-scale solar power generation. This 280 MW installation will significantly contribute to Rajasthan’s standing as a leading state in India’s clean energy transition. For Waaree Energies, which boasts a manufacturing capacity of 12 GW as of June 2023 across its four facilities, this deal further solidifies its position as a pivotal player in supplying critical infrastructure for the country’s decarbonization goals.
By leveraging advanced Indian-made technology for a substantial new solar farm, this partnership between Waaree Energies and Mahindra Susten not only advances corporate renewable energy targets but also contributes tangibly to India’s national climate commitments and its journey towards energy independence.
