Wyn Power Corporation is investing PHP 1.5 billion in a new solar farm in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, featuring a 50-megawatt solar power plant and a 20-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS).
50-Hectare Solar Farm Planned in Bulacan
The solar power plant is set to span 50 hectares, while its BESS will occupy an additional 1.5 hectares. According to Wyn Power CEO Ricardo M. Tongco, construction is slated to begin this year, with completion expected by 2025.
This project promises substantial benefits for the local community and the environment, providing clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating jobs throughout its construction and operational phases.
50 MW Capacity to Power 20,000 Homes
The solar farm is poised to generate 50 megawatts (MW) of clean energy—enough to power roughly 20,000 homes and businesses. Its integrated BESS will store energy from the solar farm, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply even during periods of low sunlight.
This investment will help reduce the country’s carbon footprint and support efforts to combat climate change. The initiative also marks a pivotal step toward the Philippines’ goal of boosting its renewable energy capacity, aligning with the government’s target to source 50% of the country’s energy from renewables by 2030.
Local Job Creation and Community Benefits
The solar farm project is set to generate hundreds of jobs during its construction phase, followed by long-term employment opportunities for local residents once operational.
Beyond the environmental and economic advantages, the project is expected to improve the quality of life for residents of San Jose del Monte City by providing a reliable, affordable source of electricity and increasing energy access for households and businesses. This initiative aligns with Wyn Power Corporation’s broader commitment to developing sustainable and renewable energy across the Philippines, helping the nation achieve its energy objectives.
