Tata Power Launches 431 MW Solar Project in Madhya Pradesh

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has successfully commissioned a 431 MW DC solar project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. This marks a significant milestone in India's renewable energy sector. The project spans 1,635.63 acres and features cutting-edge solar technology to maximize efficiency.

Advanced Technology Integration

The solar project includes single-axis trackers and bifacial modules. These technologies enhance power generation by over 15%. The project uses 560 Wp and 565 Wp bifacial glass-to-glass modules. This ensures peak power supply for extended hours and boosts overall system efficiency.

Tata Power overcame several challenges during the project’s execution. The site had rocky terrain and required extensive logistical planning. Transmission line readiness was another hurdle. The team ensured smooth commissioning by integrating SCADA systems and following Central Electricity Authority (CEA) standards. Static Var Generator (SVG) and harmonic filters were also deployed for optimal grid performance.

Solar Project to Offset 780,300 Tons of CO2 Emissions

The solar project will provide power to Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited, helping to reduce an estimated 780,300 tons of CO2 emissions.

"This project not only demonstrates the cost-effectiveness of solar energy, as evidenced by the winning bid price but also highlights the potential of sustainable energy solutions to drive India's green energy transition," said Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department.

TPREL Expands Solar Capacity, Reaches 10.9 GW

The solar project marks a significant advancement in solar technology by overcoming challenges such as rocky terrain and remote site logistics.

“The project meets the highest engineering standards, with simultaneous SCADA commissioning ensuring optimal performance. The system is CEA compliant, ensuring seamless operation of the Static Var Generator (SVG) and adheres to WRLDC compliance through the integration of harmonic filters.” said Tata Power.

This development brings Tata Power Renewable Energy's total renewable energy capacity to 10.9 GW, including 5.4 GW of operational capacity (4.4 GW solar and 1 GW wind). The company remains committed to supporting India's green energy transition and achieving Tata Power's goal of carbon neutrality by 2045, thereby contributing to a sustainable energy future.
