Demonstrating a significant expansion of its clean energy footprint, Renewable Properties has successfully completed and brought online 50 MW of new solar projects throughout 2024. The installations, spread across four states, reinforce the company’s focus on developing small-scale utility and community solar assets that deliver targeted local benefits.
A Multi-State Rollout with Community Focus
The 50 MW expansion includes a diverse range of projects tailored to meet specific regional needs. New York saw the largest share, with over 18 MW coming online from five community solar installations. Projects in Batavia and the Village of Minoa were completed in July, while the Slayton Settlement Road Solar A & B projects in Lockport pioneer an innovative agrivoltaic model. These sites integrate sheep grazing for vegetation management and dedicated beekeeping areas, preserving the land’s agricultural use.
In California, nearly 15 MW were added through three projects in Chowchilla and El Nido. These installations are integral to Pacific Gas and Electric’s (PG&E) Disadvantaged Communities Green Tariff (DAC-GT) program, which provides clean energy and a 20% bill credit to participating low-income households.
The expansion also reached New England, where three community solar projects in Maine contributed over 11 MW. These sites came online sequentially in Manchester (July), Winslow (August), and Bangor (November). Finally, a 6.62 MW project in Gibson, North Carolina, was completed in November, operating under the state’s qualifying facility program to support independent power producers.
Delivering Economic and Environmental Value
The company’s strategy emphasizes projects that offer more than just clean power. The Lockport agrivoltaic sites, for instance, support local pollinator habitats and allow a third-generation organic dairy farm to continue its operations, generating honey, wool, and lamb while producing solar energy.
Aaron Halimi, founder and CEO of Renewable Properties, highlighted this holistic approach. “These projects exemplify how we accomplish that mission, with a majority being community solar installations that bring a host of benefits to their communities, including energy bill savings, local jobs, increased revenue and local environmental benefits.”
Strategic Growth and Future Pipeline
With these new additions, Renewable Properties now manages over 155 MW of solar projects that are either operational or under construction, part of a larger 235 MW portfolio spanning 51 sites. The company, which operates in 15 states, is also diversifying into energy storage and electric vehicle infrastructure, including new EV charging hubs for last-mile delivery fleets in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Looking forward, the company is poised for continued growth. It has a development pipeline of over 1.2 GW of solar, energy storage, and EV projects and anticipates completing an additional 90 MW in 2025. This sustained development allows the company to deliver strong financial and environmental outcomes, cementing its role in the nation’s clean energy transition.
